Hellenic American University has been granted accreditation status as a non-profit institution by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The U.S. Secretary of Education recognizes NECHE as “a reliable authority on the quality of education for the institutions it accredits”.

Accreditation by the Commission indicates that the institution meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university has been found to have the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs. It also gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.

Accreditation by the Commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Inquiries regarding the accreditation status by the Commission should be directed to the administrative staff of the institution. Individuals also may contact:

Degree recognition

Graduates of Hellenic American University who earned the entirety of their degree at Hellenic American College have applied for and received recognition of professional equivalence of their degree by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. In addition to receiving recognition of professional equivalence, graduates in degree programs in fields that lead to regulated professions have also applied for and received a license of professional practice.

If you are interested in having the professional rights of your degree recognized, please consult the website of ATEEN (Independent Department for the Implementation of EU Legislation at the Ministry of Education). Note that if you have waived some of the credits for your degree or earned them at another institution, you may be asked by the Ministry to take additional courses or follow a separate process.

The Hellenic American College Career Development Office helps graduates gather the required documentation and submit the relevant application in order to have the professional equivalence of their degree recognized. Graduates can contact the Career Development Office at 2103680939, e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
