Our B-Cube initiative is offering a free talk by George Pontikas, President and CEO of the agtech company Syngenta Hellas Single Member S.A.C.I. and a Hellenic American University alumnus, on “The agribusiness industry’s contribution to feeding the world while responding to environmental challenges”.
The event will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 19:00, at Hellenic American College (Conference room, 6th floor), 22 Massalias Street, Athens.
About the talk:
Mr. Pontikas notes that in the next 30 years, agriculture will have to feed 2 billion more people, and at time when Europe has a vision to reduce the use of crop protection products and fertilizers and increase the production of organic crops. In his talk, he will discuss what R&D companies such as Syngenta must do to respond to the challenge of producing more from less, while protecting our environment, reducing their CO2 footprint and reaching their sustainability targets. Among the questions he will explore are whether Europe’s vision and strategies risk food security in exchange for a better future for European citizens, and if Greece is sufficiently well-organized and equipped to develop and execute a strategy to meet these targets and respond to future challenges.
