Pianist Apostolos Darlas in a solo concert of contemporary music

 

Apostolos DarlasApostolos Darlas will perform works for piano by Franz Liszt, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Giorgos Zervos, Apostolos Darlas, Iosif Papadatos and Leontios Hadjileontidis in a concert accompanied by video projections on March 22, 2016. The music and audio-visual material serve Darlas a means to take his listeners on a trip through time, from Liszt's wan clouds and Stockhausen's colored silences to a final destination inspired by the music of the night, Sartre, Forte and Embirikos.

The concert is being organized by the Bachelor of Music (ΒΜ) of Hellenic American College (HAEC) in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Manchester, NH, USA) and the Greek Composers' Union. It will take place on 22 March 2016 at 20:30 at the Auditorium of Hellenic American Union, 22 Massalias Street, Athens.

About Apostolos Darlas

Apostolos Darlas was born in 1972 in the city of Athens. He studied piano and orchestral conducting with Theodoros Antoniou at the National Conservatory of Athens He has participated in numerous concerts as a solo pianist or orchestra member, and worked as assistant maestro in the National Opera - Athens Concert Hall co-production of Nixon in China in 2007. He has composed more than 170 works of music. His orchestral pieces have been performed by the ERT Orchestra, Color Orchestra, Boston Alea III, Athens State Orchestra in Greece and orchestras abroad, while his opera Agamemnon was presented by the National Opera during the 2nd National Opera Competition for Contemporary Opera. Mr. Daras, whose name was included in the 2014 Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, teaches piano at the Music School of Ilion and is an active member of the Greek Composers' Union.
