In this new installation, Varvara Mavrakaki follows up on her solo exhibition of the same title held nearly ten years ago, at Medusa Art Gallery. Here she creates a new and different world through robust yet lightweight artworks that shift depending on the space and the viewer’s position.
The curator of the exhibition Iris Kritikou notes: “Successive rows of columns made of stainless steel mesh and plaster and with a near intangible, hand-rendered serial script create a vertical composition that is aesthetically complete, enduring and self-sufficient. These pieces evoke a mesmerizing and supple inner rhythm of alternating interstices and condensations that traverse the length of the austere rectangular space, successively disclosing to the viewer the geography of their hinterland.”
The exhibition is organized by Hellenic American College/Hellenic American University in cooperation with the Hellenic American Union.
