Oboe masterclass and workshop by Johanna Cox Pennington

Johanna Cox Pennington, Professor of Oboe at Louisiana State University School of Music, will give an oboe masterclass for students of the instrument on September 24th at Hellenic American College. Following the masterclass, she will then lead a workshop for oboists on technique and reed making, during which participants will also rehearse pieces for oboe ensembles.

As part of the event, Howarth of London, the renowned woodwind instrument specialists, will present their oboes at a demonstration at the College, which will be open to the public.

The events are organized by the music department of Hellenic American College/Hellenic American University and the Nakas Conservatory.

About Professor Pennington

A graduate of Northwestern University and the Eastman School of Music, Johanna Cox Pennington studied with Heinz Holliger at the Freiburg Musikhochschule. Her solo debut performance at Carnegie Hall was hailed as a "recital of high standard, excellent musicianship, and a sense of taste and proportion” by the New York Concert Review. An impassioned teacher and accomplished performer, she has performed as guest artist with orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and given recitals and master classes in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
