If Not for You: A Tribute to Bob Dylan
In honor of this year's Nobel Prize laureate in Literature, Bob Dylan, Hellenic American College and the Filippos Nakas Conservatory present a concert on December 15th of the musician's songs in new Greek translations.
Hellenic American College faculty and students from the Bachelor in Music (ΒΜ), Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (BAELL) and Master of Arts in Translation (ΜΑΤ) programs and students from the Filippos Nakas Conservatory will participate in the event.
Dylan's songs will be performed by the following students:
From Hellenic American College: Steven Aderinto, Irini Kotoula, Peggy Ohilebo, Stavroula Plokamaki and Stevi Semitekolou.
From Filippos Nakas Conservatory: Andreas Kampilis, Nikos Mavridis, Eleni Moniodi and Alexandrea Spiropoulou.
Accompanying the singers will be student musicians from the Takis Barberis class at Filippos Nakas Conservatory: Andreas Kampilis (voice, harmonica, guitar), Mihalis Panagiotis Koukoutas (guitar), Kostas Doufekas (bass) and Giorgos Spiliopoulos (drums).
During the event, Hellenic American College students Eleni Rizou and Irini Kotoula, along with Hellenic American University faculty member Dr. Vassilis Manoussakis, will read new translations of Bob Dylan's song lyrics. In addition, Dr. Manoussakis and Kostas Thomaidis will explore Dylan's influence in music and literature. Giorgos Ikaros Babasakis, translator and author of The Bob Dylan Phenomenon, which was recently published by Metaixmio Publications, will give a brief talk on the legendary American musician.
