Piano recital: 20th and 21st century Music and Symbolism

Elsa Fitam

A piano recital by Elsa Featham at the Hellenic American Union Theatre, 22 Massalias Street, Athens, on May 3, 2017 at 20:30.

Elsa Featham will perform piano works by 20th and 21st century Greek, French, and American composers Henry Cowell, Maurice Ravel, Iosif Papadatos, Eleni Skarkou, and Vaggelis Simsiris.

"Light and dark, dreams and nightmares, mythological figures and divine heroes, vibrant silences, aquatic landscapes, invisible worlds, gothic atmosphere... The work of a forgotten poet which paved the way to symbolism served as springboard to create a music program which walks the line between real and ethereal, Earth and Universe via the exploration of 20th and 21st piano music symbols", said Mrs. Featham.

Art direction: Thodoros Antoniou, President of Greek Composers' Union and Director of the Bachelor of Music program offered by Hellenic American College (HAEC) in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Nashua, NH, USA).

The concert is organized by the Bachelor of Music (BM) program offered by Hellenic American College (HAEC) in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Nashua, NH, USA) and the Greek Composers' Union.
