The two-year program in Translation is suitable for both beginners and professional translators who wish to acquire a recognized Diploma in Translation. The courses are delivered by specialized instructors with translation and teaching experience.
Translation is a creative process which requires both theoretical knowledge and extensive practice. During the course, emphasis is given on the translation methodology and the use of online and physical resources which aid this process. The course focuses on practice through the analysis and translation of authentic texts in various fields. Student translations are discussed and corrected in class with input from the course instructor and the other students as well. By the end of the first year, you will have acquired an understanding of the translation process both from a methodological and a professional aspect.

With the successful completion of the first year of the Translation program you will receive a certificate of attendance.
Second year’s modules
During the second year of the course you are required to translate authentic texts of specialized content from various areas such as:
- Finance & Business
- Medicine
- Technology
- EU
- Law
- Literature
- Social Science and Humanities
In the second year, emphasis is placed on translating highly specialized texts at a professional level through individual or team work. While the students produce mainly Greek texts, translation from Greek into English is also part of the syllabus. A key component of your training in this second year is familiarization with the use of Computer-Assisted Translation Tools such as the SDL Trados software.
Opportunity to further your studies
Upon successful completion of the second year of the program, you are qualified to join the professional translation community. If you wish to continue your studies, you may attend a preparatory course for the Chartered Institute of Linguists examination for the post-graduate level Diploma in Translation. Also, eligible candidates can also continue their studies at an MA Level and participate in the Master of Arts in Translation offered by Hellenic American College in cooperation with Hellenic American University.
