Hellenic American University offers a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) as well as a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA). Students as part of their studies can specialize in industry fields such as Aviation Management, Shipping Management as well as in functional areas within business such as Digital Marketing, People Management, Operations Management, Hospitality Management, and Engineering Management.

The Business undergraduate & graduate programs enable students to acquire a robust theoretical foundation in core Business fields and provides extensive practical learning in a range of industry-standard and emerging managerial best-practices. The University’s key partnerships with companies such as Athens International Airport, General Electric, Novartis, Eurobank, Mondelez and others strengthens the academic and research profile of Business department.

Research Profile

Faculty in business are involved in research projects across a variety of disciplines within business as well as in collaboration with scholars in other disciplines such as applied linguistics and psychology. Finance, Management, Marketing, Strategy, Human Resource Management as well as the Air Transport industry are broad focus areas of expertise and research for our faculty. Research projects are mostly in collaboration with universities in the US, and Europe including Turkey. Current projects include the exploration of English as the global Lingua Franca in business, aviation human factors risk modeling, predictive modeling in airline finance focusing on stock market valuation, comparative monetary policy assessment post-financial crisis, sales and HRM strategic alignment impact upon sustainable competitive advantage, knowledge acquisition and lean management, knowledge sharing and lean management, ambidexterity and crisis with a focus on Greek firms, empowering leadership and ambidexterity, factors impacting scalability in start-ups.

Research Team

Damianos Giannakis holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He has extensive business experience including 29 years of work in marketing and sales managerial positions. At Hellenic American University, he is a full-time faculty member and teaches in the BSBA and MBA programs.

Leonidas Tzonis holds a Ph.D. from the Newcastle Business School, UK, an M.Sc. in Finance and Investment, a PG Certificate in Higher Education from the University of Durham, and a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Finance from Brunel University. He was a full-time member of the Business School Faculty at Durham University, a visiting lecturer at the Singapore Institute of Management, and a distance learning tutor for SOAS (University of London). As a consultant he works with firms in Greece, Northern Africa and Central Asia. He is a founding member and sits on the Board of Directors of International Educational Consulting Ltd and was co-founder and vice-president of the International University of Libya, the first English-speaking fully accredited higher education institution in the country. Dr. Tzonis is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hellenic American University.
