Maria Neofotistou begins work as a professional interpreter.
Maria Neofotistou (ΜΑCI '21) has started work as an interpreter and translator at Cognizant, a global technology and professional services company. Her job involves interpreting at training sessions that are delivered by Greek finance and accounting experts for members of project teams from other countries. “My goal is to ensure that trainees can benefit to the fullest from the knowledge offered by the trainers in Greek."
Maria confesses that it was a struggle to break into the profession after graduation, but the wait was been worth it. “During my studies in the MACI program,” she explains, “the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, which made it hard to enter the market as a professional interpreter. Eventually, though, I was offered this position. The prospect of working for a multinational IT company was a bit intimidating at first, but I was confident that the skills I had acquired during my time as a MACI student at Hellenic American College had prepared me for it.”
