Students can apply at any time during the year for admission for either the Fall term, which normally begins in September, or the Spring term, which begins in February. The Office of Admissions processes and reviews applications as they are received, and a decision is made soon after supporting materials, such as test scores and transcripts, are received and the Admissions Interview is completed.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to the undergraduate programs of Hellenic American University is based on prior academic performance, work and other non-academic experience, involvement in extra-curricular activities and proficiency in the English Language.

Applicants should meet the following requirements for admission:

  • High school diploma from an accredited high school or foreign secondary school equivalent
  • English Language proficiency (The Undergraduate programs are offered exclusively in the English Language.) See the separate section on English-language Proficiency for a list of language certificates and test results that the University accepts as such evidence.
  • Interview: A personal interview is required of every applicant who appears to meet the standards for admission. These are usually done in person but we can arrange for a video-conference or telephone interview for applicants who do not live in Attica.

Conditional Admissions

In some cases an applicant may be admitted conditionally before all entrance requirements have been satisfied. This happens, for example, when students apply during their last year in high school before graduation. Such students are admitted on the condition that they graduate from high school and submit a copy of their diploma. Another example concerns students who show strong potential for successfully completing the program, but whose level of English is slightly below the admissions requirements. Conditional admissions give students time to make up any outstanding requirements and be officially admitted.

Non-discrimination policy

Admission is open to students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, physical disability, or veteran status to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, physical disability, or veteran status in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs.

Hellenic American College may, upon request of Hellenic American University, make inquiries concerning the accuracy of the information provided in the candidate’s application. Decisions on admission are made in good faith on the basis of information provided by the applicant and his/her referees. We reserve the right to withdraw an offer of admission or to terminate registration, if we later discover that false statements have been made or material information withheld or omitted.

Hellenic American University’s Student Records Policy protects the privacy of student academic records. This policy is consistent with United States Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232G; 34 CFR Part 99).
