Psychoanalyst Jan Abram will deliver a lecture at Hellenic American College on November 2nd on the occasion of the Greek publication of D. W. Winnicott’s work Deprivation and Delinquency.
During her talk she will discuss her notion of a “paternal integrate”, the earliest form of the father in the psyche of the newborn. This concept interprets and extends Winnicott's late proposal of the father as a whole object from the start of psychic life.
The lecture will be delivered in English and accompanied by a projection of the lecturer’s speech in Greek. Clinical psychologist Nektarios Koulos will comment and psychoanalyst (SPF) Thanassis Hatzopoulos will coordinate the event.
Jan Abram, PhD, is a training and supervising analyst of the British Psychoanalytical Society and Visiting Professor in the Psychoanalysis Unit at University College London. She is author or editor of several publications including The Language of Winnicott and, most recently, The Clinical Paradigms of Melanie Klein and Donald Winnicott: Comparisons and Dialogues, co-written with R. D. Hinshelwood.
The lecture is organized by Hellenic American College/Hellenic American University in cooperation with the Hellenic American Union, the Greek team of International Winnicott Association and Gavrielides Books.
