The Mindfulness Certificate Program is made up of theoretical and experiential components. The program includes coursework on different types of meditation and the specifics of mindfulness as taught originally in the East, while also providing participants the opportunity to delve into current research on the use of mindful techniques in mental health. Mindfulness is also taught through an 8-week practical training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and correlated with different areas of research in education, health, and psychology.
The program approaches mindfulness not only as a practice but also as a way of life, and thus addresses topics such as behavior modification, mindful eating, being present, active listening and transformative learning. The course is perfect for educators, health practitioners, therapists, counselors, mentors and coaches, as well as for those interested in personal and professional development. In line with Hellenic American University’s mission, this course teaches students the necessary tools to implement the practice in their everyday life and to assist others.
