Hellenic American University’s study abroad programs offer unique experiential and immersive learning opportunities in Greece. Students have the chance to study on-site, participate in travel courses, and engage with faculty-led programs.

Having a life-changing study abroad experience may seem a bit cliché, but I couldn’t describe my semester in Athens any differently. It was the greatest privilege to expand my mind by attending such a great school and being immersed in the coolest culture on Earth. I’m so grateful for all of the adventures and new friends that came with my time in Greece, and I’m already looking forward to returning! In the meantime, I have no doubt that my new skills and experiences will guide me through the rest of school and life beautifully.
My time in Athens was absolutely amazing. I can not wait to come back and visit! I learned so much about the Greek culture through not just living there but also the schooling😊.
My study abroad experience in Athens, Greece was a once in a lifetime trip that taught me so much about myself and the world. This was my first time leaving my home country, and it was such a rewarding trip to learn all about Greek culture and be able to indulge in their customs, traditions, food, etc. I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking about studying abroad to do it if they can! Even if it is a short session, it will be life-changing and an experience you will remember forever!
I loved every minute of my time spent studying abroad in Athens. It wasn’t a perfect and polished getaway, it was something so much better. It was real and it was beautiful. I got to experience life there and immerse myself in a kind and loving culture. I witnessed people who are passionate about life, and speak out boldly for what they believe. People who aren’t in a rush to go nowhere, but who rather take the time to enjoy the little things. The people in Athens, along with the historical architecture everywhere, have left an impact on me that’ll last a lifetime. I’ve learned to be more grateful for everything life has to offer, and to notice the beauty in what is and what was. Not only did I grow to love the people of Athens, to a point that it hurt to say goodbye, but I also made friendships with other study abroad students that’ll last a lifetime.
For anyone who might consider studying abroad in Athens, I couldn’t recommend it enough. You will leave changed in the best way and have so many incredible experiences. Your eyes will see beauty ranging from crystal clear waters to incredible ancient ruins to breathtaking mountains. Your ears will hear sounds of music, love, and laughter. And your heart will be full.
Eleni, Andriana, and the rest of the Study Abroad HAU team executed an amazing itinerary that integrated our coursework with ample opportunities for cultural immersion. What made my experience meaningful, though, were the people who transformed the trip into something deeply personal. From making bells with buddies to witnessing Professors Kalliopi and Kim’s passion for Greek history, and a farewell dinner spent dancing with strangers, it was the people who made each moment full. The most special moments came from the quick unsaid routine I created with the hotel staff—learning Greek and learning each other. Greece became less about a setting and more about the intimate connections I had the pleasure of making. Thank you Eleni, Andriana, and HAU for a memorable time abroad.
My time in Greece was one of the most unique, eye-opening, and personally enriching experiences I've ever had the privilege to be a part of. My experience challenged me creatively and inspired me through the gorgeous landscapes, rich history, and communal warmth and hospitality I felt so strongly while abroad. Being in this program allowed me to pursue my academics and embrace the joy and beauty of another culture in a way that I will never forget.
