Hellenic American University’s Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs are designed in close collaboration with partner institutions to support academically rigorous, immersive learning experiences in Greece. These programs allow colleges and universities to deliver their own curriculum abroad while benefiting from Hellenic American University’s academic infrastructure, local expertise, and experiential offerings.

Programs are open to faculty-led student groups and can be structured as short-term, summer, or semester-long experiences.

Program Structure

In faculty-led programs, students take courses at our Athens campus that are taught by faculty from their home universities. To enrich academic experience, programs may also include:

  • Credit or non-credit courses
  • Guided site visits and academic excursions
  • Experiential and on-site learning activities

Commonly integrated offerings include introductions to Greek history and culture, such as “Athens Across the Ages”, as well as on-site study-and-travel seminars tailored to the academic focus of the group.

To ensure seamless integration, the scheduling of courses is coordinated to accommodate the home university’s teaching schedule.

Program Timing

Faculty-led programs are most often offered during:

  • Winter & Summer Terms
  • Spring Break

In addition, some partner institutions collaborate with us to design semester-long faculty-led programs.

Custom-Designed Faculty-Led Programs

Hellenic American College specializes in the development of custom-designed faculty-led programs that meet specific academic goals and curricular requirements.

Working closely with visiting faculty, we:

  • Design programs aligned with defined learning outcomes and content needs
  • Assist with course mapping between institutions to support academic coherence and credit transfer
  • Develop custom academic itineraries combining coursework, site visits, and experiential learning
  • Schedule special sections of our courses, even when they are not part of the regular academic calendar during the group’s stay in Greece

This collaborative approach allows faculty to deliver high-impact study abroad programs while relying on Hellenic American University’s academic support, facilities, and local expertise.
