On April 29th the musical ensemble "Shonorities" will perform works by Japanese and Greek composers for voice, piano and flute in a concert dedicated to promoting Japanese culture.
The Music program of Hellenic American College, in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Manchester, NH, USA, presents "Book of Dreams", a concert of music by Japanese and Greek composers performed by the musical ensemble Shonorities. The concert is being held under the auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Greece.
The event will be held on Tuesday, April 29th 2014, at 19:30, in the Auditorium of the Hellenic American Union, at 22 Massalias Street, Athens.
The ensemble is made up of Shie Shoji (vocals), Petros Stergiopoulos (flute) and Evgenia Votanopoulou (piano). The concert features works for voice, flute and piano by Japanese and Greek composers.
The works of composers Michio Mamiya and Shiro Fukai focus on Japanese traditions, while those of Jo Kondo and Takashi Yoshimatsu have clear references to the West. The music of Vasilis Athanasiadis and Georgios Leotsakos show the influence of Japanese arts and techniques and have been a source of inspiration not only for Western composers but for Japanese composers as well.
