Pianist Christos Triantafillou will perform music works from various composers of the Greek Diaspora, including works by Panayiotis Kokoras, Nikolas Tzortzis, Haris Kittos, Panos Gkikas, Giannis Kiriakidis and Dimitris Mpakas. The concert is being organized by the Hellenic American College's Bachelor of Music Program in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Manchester, NH, USA) and the Greek Composers Union.
The works to be performed in the recital represent a range of musical genres and reflect various trends in modern composition and the fine arts. Their composers have been awarded grants, won prizes in international competitions and released recordings in various media.
Pianist Christos Triantafillou was born in Katerini in 1977, where he began his music studies in 1983. In 1989, he continued his studies in the Experimental Conservatory of Christos Papoulakos in Larisa, where he also received his Diploma in Piano and Theory. During 2003 and 2007 he specialized in the art of performing at the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania.
Mr. Triantafillou has given solo recitals and performed in chamber music ensembles in Greece (Larisa, Katerini, Volos, etc.) and Romania (Bucharest, Tulcea, etc). In 2005 he became a member of the Charmisteo Piano Duet, which made its debut performance in the George Enescu Hall at the University of Bucharest.
The event, directed by Thodoros Antoniou, will be held on Monday, December 8 2014, at 20:30, in the Auditorium of the Hellenic American Union, at 22 Massalias Street, Kolonaki.
