The Conference, which will be held at the College on September 23-25, 2016, is being organized by Hellenic American University.

Over 200 presenters from 40 countries—discourse analysts, linguists, historians, economists, sociologists and other scholars and researchers—will come together in Athens to explore issues in the discourses of European identity. (The abstracts of all the talks are now available on the Conference website).

The initiative to organize the Conference came about with the realization that Europe is going through an existential crisis. The continent's humanitarian credentials are being challenged by a refugee crisis of almost unprecedented proportions. The heightened threat of terrorism and the rise of right-wing populist movements have given renewed significance to issues of diversity and borders. Notions of solidarity and democracy are being questioned anew by the politics of austerity but also by grassroots activism.

With this in mind we invite you to participate in the Conference and take part in a dialogue about the past, present and future of Europe.

Registration for the Conference is now open at http://www.europeindiscourse.eu.
