On June 20th, Hellenic American College will present the 9th event of the Dialog for Development series entitled "European developments and their impact on Greece".
The event is organized by the Hellenic American College / Hellenic American University and the Hellenic American Union, in cooperation with the Greek Section of the Association of European Journalists.
The European Union is going through the biggest crisis since its inception. The economic recession, the shock waves through the countries of the European South and the rise of political populism in its member-states lead to a proliferation of criticism about the European Administration and skepticism about its institutions, structures, functions, and substance. Phenomena like Brexit serve to reinforce this crisis by creating an environment of uncertainty affecting citizens, state policies and the prospects for growth and recovery alike.
Guest speakers will attempt to provide answers to the following questions:
Which international circumstances are expected to have the greatest impact on Greece? What opportunities can be identified in the largely unchartered territory of this new reality? How can the European Union adjust in order to address the needs that have arisen more effectively?
Speaking at the event, will be:
- Periklis Vallianos, Professor of Political Philosophy, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens
- George Bitros, Professor Emeritus, Athens University of Economics and Business
- Loukas Katsonis, Publisher, Foreign Affairs – The Hellenic Edition
- Athanasios Papandropoulos, Journalist; Executive Chairman, Greek Section of the Association of European Journalists
