George Zongolopoulos, Plexiglas and light, 1969-1971, Plexiglas and light, 39 x 42 x 39 cm, George Zongolopoulos Foundation CollectionIn 1971, George Zongolopoulos presented his pioneering exhibition "Kinetic Art" in the galleries of the Hellenic American Union, inaugurating a new chapter in his artistic career. Today, 45 years later, the Hellenic American Union and Hellenic American College (HAEC), in cooperation with the George Zongolopoulos Foundation, organize an exhibition in tribute to the renowned Greek artist featuring works by contemporary Greek sculptors and painters. Although not entirely adhering to the great sculptor's artistic idiom, these artists demonstrate selective affinities to his work, both in their pursuits and symbols and in the structure and use of materials or even their lines and forms.

Apart from works by George Zongolopoulos, the exhibition also features works by: Υiannis Adamakos, Costas Ananidas, Andreas Arapakis, Lina Bebi, Costis, Rihardos Foskolos, Markos Georgilakis, Giorgos Gyparakis, Giorgos Houliaras, Giorgos Lappas, Spiros Lisgaras, Afrodite Liti, Barbara Mavrakaki, Stella Meletopoulou, Harris Nazlidis, Stelios Panagiotopoulos, Artemis Papadima, Chara Plataki, Stefanos Souvatzoglou, Nana Vetta, Marios Voutsinas and Lena Zevgaridou.

The exhibition is curated by art historian Iris Kritikou.
