On November 29th, Hellenic American College will present the 6th in a series of round-table discussions entitled Dialog for Development and co-organized with the Greek Section of the Association of European Journalists and the Hellenic American Union.
This session is devoted to education. Panelists, including eminent political figures and the President of Hellenic American University, will examine the role of the school in preparing students to become engaged and responsible citizens, endowed with critical reasoning and prepared to take responsibility for their actions. In particular, panelists will discuss the notion of the "liberated school", an autonomously functioning unit that could function as a counterweight to the predominant and centrally planned public education system in Greece.
Speaking at the event will be:
- Marietta Giannakou, former member of the European Parliament, former Member of the Greek Parliament and former Minister of Education
- Tasos Avrantinis, Writer, lawyer, Vice president of "Drassis" party and former member of the Athens City Council
- Leonidas Phoebus Koskos, President of Hellenic American University
Athanasios Papandropoulos, President of the Greek Section of the Association of European Journalists, will be coordinating the discussion.

The Dialog for Development series is an initiative of University President Leonidas Phoebus Koskos and the Greek Section of the Association of European Journalists. The series is intended to serve as a forum for promoting dialogue on pressing concerns of Greek society today. At each event, a panel of guests from the fields of politics, law, business, journalism and higher education gather to discuss issues of education, competition, ideology and the mass media.
