About Maria Garzón
Maria Garzón has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Barbican. She has participated in renowned international festivals such as Salzburg, Carthage, and Thessaloniki, and her work has been featured on major radio stations, including the BBC, Classic FM, WDR, RAI, RTVE, and NBC.
An advocate for rediscovered masterpieces, Maria played a pivotal role in bringing the works of composer J. L. Dussek back to the spotlight. She is an honorary member of Iberian and Latin American Music Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
About the Goldberg Variations
J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, BWV 988, composed in 1741, represent one of the crowning achievements of Baroque music and keyboard artistry. This extraordinary work features an Aria followed by 30 variations, each showcasing a unique blend of technical brilliance, emotional depth, and artistic expression.
The final return to the Aria creates a powerful sense of closure, offering listeners a profound reflection on the intricate journey through Bach's genius.
Maria Garzón will begin the evening with a talk on the historical and musical significance of the Goldberg Variations, followed by a complete performance of the work.
