The Music Program of Hellenic American College, in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Manchester, NH, USA), and the Greek Composers’ Union present the concert “The Remote Magic World of Electronics”. The event will take place on Wednesday, January 29 2014, at 20:30, in the Auditorium of the Hellenic American Union, 22 Massalias Street, Kolonaki.

The advent of modern technology in the 20th century introduced new ways of creating and producing music. The first devices for the production of electronic sounds made their appearance in the first decades of the century with the Telharmonium [1900], Theremin [1928], Martenot [1928] and Trautonium [1929]. Electronic music evolved in the 1950s not only inside the music studios in Germany (Cologne, Munich) and the Netherlands (Utrecht) but elsewhere as well. It was at the beginning of that decade that the first concerts with works of electronic music took place.

This concert features a great variety and combinations of electronic sounds with acoustic musical instruments. Musical pieces by Luigi Nono, Stathis Campilis, Dimitris Bakas, Savvas Tsiligiridis and Dimitra Billia, Irene Nikolakopoulou and Leontios Chatzileontiadis will be presented during the concert by the musicians: Andreas Zafiropoulos (piano) and Vangelis Stathopoulos (flute). Art direction: Theodore Antoniou.
