IFLA MLAS meeting and half-day conference on «Changing societies – changing roles of libraries»

The Hellenic American College in cooperation with Hellenic American University and the Hellenic American Union Library are proud to host the IFLA MLAS (Management of Library Associations Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) meeting and half-day conference on March 12-13, 2015. The meeting will focus on what is happening today in the world of libraries - societies are changing; technology is moving forward; structures are no longer what they used to be.

Libraries are accustomed to transformation and adapting to new environments throughout the centuries of their existence. The information age, however, brought about tremendous changes that can only be compared to the invention of the typesetting machine, and we have to, once more, ask ourselves, what exactly is this new social and technological environment and how can libraries fit into it; in essence, is there a place for the Library within contemporary society, and what – if any- is that place.
