On Monday, July 3rd, Fulbright scholar and Associate Professor of Hospitality at the University of New Hampshire Dr. Valentini Kalargyrou will deliver a talk on disability inclusion in the workplace.
During her presentation, Dr. Kalagyrou will discuss:
- An overview of employment for people with disabilities
- Employers' perspectives on hiring individuals with disabilities
- The business case & competitive advantage when employing workers with disabilities
- Customers' perceptions when interacting with staff with disabilities
The purpose of this presentation is to provide participants with highlights of research on this topic, focusing on disability studies in the United States workplace.

Valentini Kalargyrou, Ph.D. is a Fulbright scholar and Associate Professor of Hospitality Management in the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Her far-reaching career of more than 20 years includes academic as well as international entrepreneurship activities. She has extensive industry experience in casino management and human resource management and specifically diversity inclusion and employee relations, including leadership roles on several opening teams of integrated resorts in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Kalargyrou scientifically documented work on best practices in the hospitality industry, widely published in top-tier reviewed journals, and has been broadly cited. Her primary research focus is on disability issues in the workplace and service operations, with an emphasis on employers' perspectives; the business case of employing people with disabilities and social entrepreneurship; and customer attitudes and perceptions when served by employees with disabilities. Dr. Kalargyrou is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Who's Who in Business Higher Education (WWBHE), Golden Key International, and National Scholars Honor societies and several other professional organizations; i.e., the Council of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE), the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Seacoast Human Resources Association (SHRA). She also serves on the editorial board of several distinguished academic journals.
