When Skills Speak Louder than Language
Christopher, a senior student in the University’s BSc in Informatics program, who is currently working on his thesis, was hired in July 2025 as a Client Services Associate at Dialectica. He earned this position following an interview with Optimal HR Group during the 2025 Career Fair. In his role, Christopher connects clients with industry experts around the globe who can provide valuable, experience-based insights. Christopher highlights Dialectica’s excellent career progression opportunities as one of the company’s greatest strengths. He acknowledges that the main challenge lies in working in a highly competitive and fast-paced environment. Reflecting on adjustment to this position, he emphasizes the value of the soft skills he had previously developed by taking initiative. “What proved most useful were the skills I gained while building my own startup, such as problem-solving, adaptability, and managing projects in a high-pressure environment,” he says. Looking back on the 2025 Career Fair, Christopher, who is a Greek Ethiopian, admits that he did not initially expect the event to lead directly to a job opportunity due to the Greek language barrier. “I attended mainly for the experience, but it actually turned out to be really useful. Most company representatives were understanding and approachable, and in the end, I landed this job!”, he says. He also credits the Career Development Office for helping him polish his CV and providing valuable advice that boosted his confidence and skills before the event. Christopher, who is also a web developer, is the Founder and CEO of the web development and digital solutions agency Aelionyx.
