Obstetricians say that “every pregnancy leaves traces behind”, a reference to changes that take place in the woman’s body. However, another set of changes, psychological in nature, occur in the transitional phases of a woman’s reproductive lifecycle.

Such developments will be explored in the upcoming colloquium on “Transition and Change in Women’s Mental Health” organized for December 15th by the Hellenic Society for the Women’s Mental Health and Hellenic American College (HAEC), in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Nashua, NH, USA).

Speakers’ contributions will focus on the biological, mental and social changes that women experience during the phases of their reproductive lifecycle as well as the challenges that accompany the desire to have children, the shift to parenthood and the acceptance of menopause.

The Hellenic Society for the Women’s Mental Health (EPSYG) is a not-for-profit organization established in 2017 by the scientific team of the Women’s Mental Health Program of the 1st Psychiatric Clinic of the Athens University. EPSYG’s mission is to raise awareness of women’s mental health issues, provide training and promote networking among people and groups active in this field.
