Teacher Education

Mission of the Program

The Program is committed to providing highest-quality professional development and certification for language teachers of both widely used and less widely used foreign languages, linking theory and practice with a deep understanding of the language teaching context in Greece. The Program aims to provide educational opportunities for teachers at all levels, from novice teachers to those who wish to pursue post-graduate studies, both in Greece and abroad.

Advanced Diploma in TESOL-Level 5

The program Advanced Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is aligned to Level 5 of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF).

The Advanced Diploma in TESOL-Level 5 is offered in the framework of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature (BAELL), but can also be taken as a standalone course for professional development.

Advanced Diploma in TESOL-Level 7

The program Advanced Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is aligned to Level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF).

The Advanced Diploma in TESOL-Level 7 is offered in the framework of the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics – TESOL (MAAL), but can also be taken as a standalone course for professional development.

TESOL Management course

Hellenic American College/Hellenic American University offers a new graduate course, entitled “TESOL Management”, aimed for experienced teachers who wish to develop their careers as school managers/director of studies or existing school managers/director of studies who wish to develop their skills further in their current positions.

The course is offered as part of the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics-TESOL program but can also be taken as a standalone course for professional development.

Teaching Modern Greek as a Foreign Language

This is a 45-hour course responding to the need for teaching Greek as Second/Foreign Language in today's multilingual and multicultural world. The course is open both to novice and experienced teachers of Greek as a Foreign/Second Language.

The course is offered as elective in the framework of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature (BAELL).
