Applying Theory to Clinical Practice
Adamantini, a student in the University’s MSc in Clinical Psychology program, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, completed an internship as a Clinical Psychologist- Psychotherapist with Roots Wellness Center, a bilingual practice offering counseling, psychotherapy, and clinical supervision through a team of mental health professionals.
Her internship offered valuable practical exposure. “Managing complex cases, navigating ethical dilemmas, and balancing academic responsibilities with clinical work was challenging. However, this experience ultimately strengthened my clinical judgment and resilience as a practitioner, and solidified my ability to conduct assessments, implement interventions, and navigate therapeutic relationships effectively”, says Adamantini, adding that the internship strengthened her adaptability and critical thinking: “It also helped shape my professional identity and prepared me for more advanced clinical roles or further specialization”.
She found the 2024 Career Fair particularly impactful: “One of the key strengths of the event was the networking opportunities. Engaging with industry experts allowed for meaningful discussions about career prospects and professional growth”.
Reflecting on the Career Development Office services, Adamantini adds: “The preparatory sessions contributed to a well-rounded understanding of the job market and the essential employability skills. My collaboration with its Director, Ms. Domniki Diamantopoulou, has helped me develop my skills in conducting interviews with potential employers”.
Adamantini also holds a BSc in Psychology from Panteion University. Her clinical experience includes training in the Child Psychiatry Department at Tzaneio General Hospital. She currently works as a freelance clinical psychologist and also collaborates with myTherapist online platform.
