From Internship to Career Success.
Georgia, a student in the University’s MA in Translation program who is about to begin her thesis, has transformed her internship at Translate. One into a full-time role as a Translation Project Manager, overseeing the lifecycle of translation projects, from planning to quality assurance and client communication.
Working at Translate. One, a global translation and localization company specializing in life sciences, IT, and corporate content, Georgia has gained hands-on experience, which was both challenging and fascinating. “I experienced firsthand how the job market works. I was involved in all stages of a translation project, interacted with clients and collaborators”, she notes, adding she also gained personal growth: “I developed social skills, critical thinking and time management skills”.
Georgia credits the 2024 Career Fair and the Career Development Office (CDO) for her career breakthrough: “The Career Fair was an incredibly valuable experience. It opened the door to the internship with Translate. One, but also helped me explore my career options and better understand my goals and which position aligns with my skills and aspirations”, she says, concluding that the CDO was instrumental in bridging the gap between her studies and her position: “They gave me the confidence to take my first professional steps in the field of translation, making the transition from my academic background into the job market much smoother and more meaningful”.
Georgia also holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is a member of Women in Localization, a global community supporting the advancement of women in the localization industry, and an experienced English Language Teacher.
