Turning Experience into Opportunity
Andriana, an alumna of the University’s BSc in Psychology program, secured a position as a Check-in Agent at Athens International Airport with Goldair Handling, one of Southeast Europe’s top ground handling companies, operating at 26 airports across Greece.
While not directly related to her field, Andriana found this work experience invaluable. “I had the opportunity to learn effective ways to handle challenging situations involving people from different cultures and with varying moods. One challenge was adapting to the initial training process, which took some time, but was ultimately rewarding and contributed significantly to my development,” she says.
Andriana points out the connection between her studies and her role at Goldair Handling. “My studies in psychology were instrumental during this job experience, allowing me to empathize with individuals from different backgrounds, making it easier to navigate challenging interactions”.
Andriana credits the 2024 Career Fair and the Career Development Office (CDO) for supporting her growth, explaining: “The wide variety of companies present at the event provided us with numerous options to explore and determine which fields aligned with our interests and goals. The CDO’s professionalism and dedication to helping students succeed elevate the University’s reputation and make a lasting impact on students’ career readiness”.
Andriana now serves as Student Affairs & International Programs Coordinator at Hellenic American University, while pursuing an MSc in Stress and Health Management at the same institution. Furthermore, she holds a Certificate in School Psychology from the University of the Aegean. A licensed psychologist, she also volunteers at Anelixi NGO and is a proud member of the Hellenic American University Debate Team, which won the Great Debate hosted by Rollins College in Florida in November 2024.
